Resident Evil Requiem dominated everything
Resident Evil Requiem came to Gamescom 2025 swinging for the fences and absolutely crushed it. This game didn’t just show up โ it conquered the entire event, winning four major awards including Best Visuals, Best Audio, Most Epic Game, and Best Sony PlayStation Game. The new story trailer during Opening Night Live was mind-blowing, revealing Grace Ashcroft’s dark backstory and her connection to Alyssa from RE Outbreak.
But here’s the kicker โ they had a 20-minute playable demo on the show floor that had people lined up for hours! Players got to experience Grace tied upside-down on a gurney in an abandoned hospital, then explore terrifying hallways while being hunted by a grotesque new “Stalker” enemy. The seamless switching between first-person and third-person perspectives felt incredible, and the traditional RE puzzle-solving mixed with modern horror elements was chef’s kiss. Mark your calendars: February 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC!

Pragmata finally shows its genius
After years of delays and cryptic trailers, Pragmata finally had its big moment at Gamescom 2025 with extensive hands-on demos that completely changed people’s minds about this game. Set in a futuristic lunar mining station, you play as security specialist Hugh Williams who teams up with android Diana after being separated from his team. What looked confusing in trailers suddenly makes perfect sense when you play it โ this is a brilliant fusion of third-person shooting and hacking puzzles!
The genius is in Diana’s hacking abilities โ enemy robots are heavily armored, but Diana can hack through their defenses with quick grid-based minigames that take just seconds to complete. The hacking screen closes if you take damage, so you need to use Hugh’s thrusters for last-second dodges while maintaining space until there’s a lull in combat. The “Overdrive Protocol” ability lets Diana hack multiple enemies simultaneously, deactivating their weapons and temporarily immobilizing them โ talk about satisfying crowd control!
What impressed everyone was how smoothly it all flows together. The demo wrapped up with a massive boss fight against SectorGuard, an imposing S-35 robot with spherical projectile modules that required using Hugh’s propulsors to dodge while Diana exploited her hacking talents. Plus, Capcom launched a public hacking minigame online for people not at Gamescom, showing their commitment to getting people hyped. With full Ray Tracing support and DLSS 4, this lunar laboratory is going to look absolutely stunning when it hits PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026!
The comeback stories were unreal
After 13 years of development hell, Routine finally showed real gameplay at Gamescom 2025! The 30-second trailer during the Opening Night Live pre-show revealed that gorgeous 80s retro-futuristic lunar base setting we’ve been waiting for. The survival horror gameplay looks absolutely terrifying โ fleeing from mechanical threats in dark corridors with unreliable lighting. It’s coming Q4 2025 for PC and Xbox, day-one on Game Pass. Sometimes good things really do come to those who wait!
Lords of The Fallen 2 made its grand debut with a cinematic CGI trailer. Set 100 years after the first game, the Umbral calamity has spread so badly that even the Gods are hiding in fear. The combat promises to be “faster, more decisive, and increasingly punishing” โ exactly what fans wanted. Coming 2026 to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games Store. CI Games even set up a “Tattoo Sanctum” at Gamescom offering free franchise-inspired tattoos. Now that’s commitment!
Eastern mythology takes center stage
Swords of Legends had its world premiere. This is the first global launch in the Gujian franchise’s 15-year history, built in Unreal Engine 5 by Aurogon Shanghai. You play as Si Pan, an “Underworld Enforcer” who’s dead yet reborn, exploring a stunning world inspired by 2,000+ years of Chinese mythology. The soul summoning mechanics look incredible โ capture enemy souls and summon them as allies! Plus, the developers specifically said it’s designed for all skill levels, not punishing Soulslike difficulty.
Meanwhile, Black Myth Zhong Kui was the ultimate surprise drop! Game Science shocked everyone by announcing the second Black Myth game, focusing on the ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and earth. Though it’s still super early in development (they admitted it’s “little more than an empty folder”), the CG trailer looked phenomenal and it’s confirmed as a standalone entry, not a Wukong sequel.
Action games brought the heat
Ninja Gaiden 4 absolutely delivered with its story trailer world premiere and hands-on Xbox booth demo. The October 21, 2025 release date is so close I can taste it! The new “Assassin’s Tools” weapon category promises swift precision with devastating power, and seeing both Yakumo and Ryu Hayabusa team up against the Dark Dragon threat was incredible. The collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames is a match made in heaven โ you can feel both studios’ DNA in every slash and combo.
Onimusha: Way of The Sword had a fantastic showing with new combat footage and extensive hands-on demos. The parrying and “Issen” counter-attack system looks buttery smooth, and that Sasaki Ganryu boss fight was absolutely brutal in the best way. The soul absorption mechanics add a strategic layer โ you need to quickly grab those blue, yellow, and red souls before enemies can absorb them too! Still targeting 2026 but man, it’s looking polished.
Horror fans ate incredibly well
Cronos: The New Dawn from Bloober Team looks like their most ambitious project yet, and after playing Silent Hill 2 Remake, that’s saying something! The September 5, 2025 release date is practically around the corner, and the hands-on demo was described as absolutely brutal โ “it kicked my ass” was the common refrain from preview players. The resource management is intense, the enemy merging system is terrifying (defeated enemies can combine with corpses!), and that consciousness uploading mechanic gives serious SOMA vibes.
Silent Hill F premiered its new story trailer and revealed Suzie Yeung (Yuffie from FF7 Remake) as the English voice of protagonist Hinako Shimizu. The 1960s Japan setting looks hauntingly beautiful, and Konami’s official booth featured “a cinematic and atmospheric Silent Hill f horror experience” that had people genuinely spooked. September 25, 2025 can’t come soon enough!
Ghost of Yotei keeps the samurai spirit alive
The Ghost of Yotei “Song of Vengeance” trailer was pure poetry in motion, showing more of Atsu’s quest against the Yลtei Six. But the real surprise was the announcement of Ghost of Yotei Legends โ free multiplayer DLC coming in 2026 with two-player story missions and four-player survival matches against demonic giant versions of the Yลtei Six. The October 2, 2025 release date is so close, and after Ghost of Tsushima’s incredible success, this is guaranteed day-one material.
The wildcards that stole hearts
Project Spectrum came out of nowhere as Team Jade’s world premiere reveal! This “asymmetric PvPvE thriller tactical shooter” set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by reality-warping “Ember” looks incredibly unique. The trailer’s interrogation scene setup was brilliant, and the idea of playing as “Operators” leading missions into dangerous Ember Zones while managing sanity as a depleting resource sounds absolutely fascinating. Free-to-play on PC with Unreal Engine 5? Yes, please!
Don’t sleep on the Monster Hunter: Wilds x FF14 Crossover either โ this collaboration looks incredible! Omega Planetes from FFXIV is coming to Monster Hunter Wilds in late September 2025, while Guardian Arkveld is heading to FFXIV in early October 2025. Chocobo mount skins and Seikret mounts crossing over between games? Pure genius!
So much more beyond my list!
Look, I know I haven’t covered every single game that showed up at Gamescom 2025 โ there were literally hundreds of announcements, demos, and reveals across the entire event! But honestly, when it comes to my personal gaming taste, I’m all about those realistic visuals and superior graphics that really push the boundaries of what current-gen hardware can do.
The games on my list absolutely delivered on that front โ from Resident Evil Requiem’s photorealistic horror environments to Pragmata’s stunning lunar laboratory with full ray tracing support, these titles are showcasing the absolute peak of visual fidelity. When I see games like Onimusha: Way of The Sword bringing that cinematic samurai aesthetic to life or Ghost of Yotei’s breathtaking feudal Japanese landscapes, that’s what gets me genuinely excited about the future of gaming.
Sure, there were plenty of other cool indies, retro-styled games, and experimental titles at the show that I’m sure many people loved, but for me? Give me those AAA productions with cutting-edge graphics engines, realistic lighting, and jaw-dropping character models that make you forget you’re looking at a video game. That’s my jam, and Gamescom 2025 absolutely delivered on that promise!
Gamescom 2025 proved that gaming is in an absolutely incredible place right now. Whether you’re into horror, action, RPGs, or multiplayer experiences, there’s something amazing coming your way. My wallet is already crying, but my gamer heart has never been happier!
